Claude C. Thornton Foundation Co-Founder and Education Director, educational consultant and community advocate, Autrese Thornton, has been named one of three finalists submitted to Gov. Wes Moore for consideration to fill the vacant at-large seat on the Baltimore County Board of Education.

According to reporting by Racquel Bazos of The Baltimore Sun, Autrese Thornton was selected as one of the finalists submitted to Gov. Wes Moore for consideration following deliberations held Thursday evening.
Thornton, who has a background in special education and educational leadership, previously ran for the board’s District 4 seat in 2018 and 2022. The at-large appointment would fill the remainder of the term through Dec. 4, 2028.
The article also highlighted ongoing discussions surrounding another vacant District 1 seat, which remains unresolved after the commission was unable to reach the required voting threshold to appoint a candidate.
This recognition reflects Thornton’s longstanding commitment to education, leadership, and community advocacy throughout Baltimore County.
