About the event

In the August edition of GBCI's webinars, we will discuss how Maryland has been calculating the Genuine Progress Indicator since 2011, when it became one of the first states to do so. This indicator is a "triple bottom line" accounting measure, incorporating economic, environmental, and social factors to better measure the condition of a state or nation, and these results can be used to inform policy and decision-making by the state.


We'll hear from Dr. Elliott T. Campbell, Director of the Office of Science and Research within the Watershed and Climate Services at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.


Elliott Campbell holds expertise in systems ecology and the interactions between people and the natural environment. His work focuses on climate mitigation, quantification, and planning, as well as ecosystem service quantification and tools to integrate this information into decision-making.
